Jakarta. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo recently launched two hospitals -- both worked on by state construction firm PTPP.

The two hospitals also received financial backing from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).

The first hospital was the Dr Hasan Sadikin Mother and Child Healthcare Center in Bandung, West Java. The project had a contract worth Rp 383.1 billion with PTPP making up 55 percent of the proportions. The eight-storey building spans 35,183 square meters and boasts 490 beds. Intensive care unit (ICU) services are also available.

The second freshly inaugurated hospital done by PTPP was the Dharmais Cancer Hospital with a contract value of Rp 474.3 billion. The project received  the Indonesian World Records Museum Award for the deepest radiotherapy bunker in Indonesia. This bunker has a concrete wall thickness of between 1.5 and 3.5 meters with a special density of 2,350 kg/m³ which is able to withstand radiation with a maximum energy of 10 MV FFF.

"When I walked into the Dharmais Hospital building earlier, it felt like entering a five-star hotel, it is neat, well-designed and has bright lights,” Jokowi said.

With such healthcare facilities, Jokowi hopes that people will no longer feel the need to go abroad to get quality health services.

"Likewise, the Hasan Sadikin Hospital, which is also an eight-story building, also feels like a five-star hotel,” Jokowi said.

PTPP’s President Director Novel Arsyad said he was satisfied with the results of both projects.

"PTPP is proud to have completed national hospital projects in West Java and Jakarta. With our innovations, we have proved our commitment to quality and zero accidents. The project even earned the MURI record,” Novel said.

"The completion of this project will add to PTPP's portfolio in building construction, especially in the hospital cluster, and is in line with the government's efforts to improve the competitiveness of health services for the Indonesian people," Novel said.
