Jakarta. Indonesia’s commercial vehicle market continued to face challenges through the first half of 2025, pressured by falling commodity prices and a slowdown in the mining sector. Despite the downturn, Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia (IAMI) remains confident it can maintain growth by focusing on resilient sectors such as logistics, agriculture, and warehousing.

“Overall sales in the commercial vehicle segment have indeed declined,” said Puti Annisa Moeloek, Head of Communication Management Division at IAMI, on Monday. “But we’ve seen signs of recovery between June and July, which strengthens our optimism.”

IAMI is targeting a 30 percent market share in the commercial vehicle segment this year. While demand from mining operations remains subdued, Annisa believes growth opportunities exist in other industries that continue to operate and expand.

“When the market weakens, we shift our attention to sectors that are still active,” she said. “Distribution, agriculture, and storage are still moving, and we expect them to grow in the second half of 2025.”

Isuzu’s product range spans from the medium pickup Isuzu Traga to light and medium-duty trucks, as well as medium buses, some of which are part of Jakarta’s TransJakarta fleet.

“From small to large vehicles, we have it all—and Isuzu is also known for its fuel efficiency,” she noted.

Beyond vehicle performance, Isuzu is doubling down on after-sales service as a core component of its customer strategy. Annisa emphasized that commercial vehicle users have very different needs compared to passenger car owners, as their fleets are used daily for business operations.

“What matters most is fast, reliable maintenance and spare parts availability. That’s what we continue to enhance,” she said. “That’s also why we’re putting a spotlight on our after-sales service at GIIAS 2025.”

With a targeted approach toward high-activity sectors and a strong emphasis on customer support, Isuzu believes it can sustain growth and reinforce its position in Indonesia’s commercial vehicle market—even as broader industry conditions remain uncertain.
