Jakarta. The government announced Tuesday that its second-semester stimulus package had seen major progress in boosting economic activities nationwide.

Indonesia has rolled out some transportation incentives as many children went on school holidays. A 30% discount on train tickets was available from June 20 to July 5. There was also an exemption from ASDP port services during the same period. A 30% discount on basic Pelni ship fares will be in place until Aug. 15. The government had also subsidized the value-added tax for economy class domestic flights.

"To date, implementation has been successful, and public uptake of the program has been quite optimal. This demonstrates that the stimulus can provide benefits directly felt by the community," Haryo Limanseto, the spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, said.

As of July 5, 2026, this program had benefited 1,303,191 passengers, reaching 110% of the target of 1,174,624 passengers. This number also increased 13% compared to the 1,152,581 passengers in the same period in 2025.

With a budget realization of Rp 90.9 billion (around $5 million), this policy covers 150 regular train trips and 26 additional train trips, with a 30% discount on all non-commissioned economy train services (non-PSO/non-pioneer).

As of July 6, 2026, the sea transportation fare had benefited 481,503 passengers, or approximately 69% of the target of 693,690 passengers. The government had spent around Rp 46.9 billion to run this program.

The ferry transportation incentive program has also shown significant progress. Based on boarding data, as of July 5, 1,125,088 passengers had utilized the incentive, representing 93.25% of the target of 1,206,585 passengers.

This number comprised 959,880 passengers traveling in 360,141 vehicles and 165,208 pedestrians. In its implementation, the government is providing a 100% exemption from port service fees, equivalent to a total discount of approximately 21.11% of ferry ticket prices. This incentive is provided to pedestrian passengers, motorcycle users (Class II), and Class IVA private vehicles at 14 ferry ports across 7 routes managed by PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry.

"The government is optimistic that these various stimulus policies will provide tangible benefits to the public while maintaining the momentum of national economic growth," Haryo said.
