Jakarta. Indonesian climber Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi has become the world's top-ranked women's speed climber after rising to No. 1 in the latest rankings released by the International Federation of Sport Climbing.

Desak climbed to the top of the rankings following her victory at the World Climbing Series event in Krakow, Poland, earlier this month.

The Bali-born athlete earned crucial ranking points by winning the women's individual speed competition in Krakow and adding further points from previous World Climbing Series events. According to the federation, her bronze medal in the women's relay also contributed to her rise to the top of the standings.

Desak, 25, now leads the world rankings with 3,670 points, ahead of Aleksandra Mirosław of Poland on 3,610 points and fellow Pole Natalia Kałucka on 3,495 points.

China's Zhou Yafei is ranked fourth with 3,422 points, followed by South Korea's Jeong Jimin with 3,286 points and American climber Emma Hunt with 3,203 points.

Indonesia also has two other women in the rankings, with Rajiah Salsabillah placed 15th on 1,903 points and Kadek Adi Asih ranked 23rd with 982 points.

In the men's speed rankings, Raharjati Nursamsa is Indonesia's highest-ranked climber in seventh place with 2,750 points. He is followed by Anstasyafi Robby Al Hilmi in 16th, Veddriq Leonardo -- the Paris Olympic gold medalist -- in 22nd, Kiromal Katibin in 24th, Aditya Tri Syahria in 26th, and Alfian Muhammad Fajri in 53rd.

Under IFSC regulations, athletes earn ranking points through each World Climbing Series event, meaning the standings can change throughout the season.

“The ranking is important because it gives our athletes greater confidence heading into the 2026 Asian Games,” Indonesia's national speed climbing coach Galar Pandu Asmoro said on Tuesday.

“It also shows that Indonesia remains highly competitive in the speed discipline.”
