Jakarta. The Indonesia–Jordan Business Council (IJBC), led by President Mayra Andrea Mueller, held a courtesy meeting with Indonesia’s Minister of Trade Budi Santoso to discuss accelerating the implementation of a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between Indonesia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The meeting marked a strategic step to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and align priorities for commodities to be included in the PTA negotiations.

President IJBC Mayra Andrea Mueller said the main objective of the discussion was to submit recommendations and a list of priority commodities to be promoted in the PTA framework.

“PTA will facilitate trade flows between Indonesian and Jordanian businesses and open wider market access,” Mayra said.

Minister Budi Santoso welcomed the IJBC initiative and expressed his full support. He emphasized the importance of preparing a PTA template consistent with Indonesia’s trade agreements with other partner countries. He also encouraged the IJBC to assist Indonesian SMEs in exporting flagship products.

During the discussion, Chairman Sutiyoso highlighted Indonesia’s role in supporting Gaza reconstruction efforts via Jordan, particularly through the delivery of essential commodities such as cement and food supplies to help stabilize the region.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Sujatmiko proposed drafting a joint statement on the PTA to strengthen momentum and ensure more effective coordination between the two governments.

The meeting also served as part of the lead-up to the state visit of His Majesty the King of Jordan on Nov. 14, where accelerating the PTA is expected to be a key point in the joint statement, deepening Indonesia–Jordan economic relations.

The IJBC delegation included Chairman Sutiyoso, Ambassador Sujatmiko, and Advisory of Board Council Iwan Hanafi, as well as the IJBC Vice President.
