Jakarta. A group of Indonesian small to medium enterprises have clinched a series of deals to export food products to Canada.

Exotique Foods is an importer focusing on bringing in Indonesian goods into the Canadian market. The company run by Indonesian diaspora has signed five purchase orders and one memorandum of understanding (MoU). These fresh deals worth totaling $92,000 involve Indonesian small to medium enterprises, namely PT Azaki International (ready-to-eat tempeh), PT Wins Organic (coconut and palm sugar), PT Indo Tropikal (ginger candy), CV Dua Sholeha (fried onions), and CV Menara Desa (fruit chips), as well as PT Ladang Sehat (gluten-free pasta).

The Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa had partnered Lembaga Pembiayaan Ekspor Indonesia (LPEI) and the Trade Ministry’s Directorate General for National Export Development to facilitate the contract signing.

"We encourage strategic collaboration between stakeholders in Indonesia and Canada to boost exports of Indonesian products, including various processed foods, to the Canadian market,” Indonesian Ambassador to Canada Muhsin Syihab said.

“LPEI's commitment and contribution to strengthening the national export ecosystem, particularly through financing and facilitation, was crucial," the envoy stated.

Sulaeman, a senior official at LPEI, said that the agency’s main focus was to encourage export financing.

"LPEI continues to strive to provide various financing facilities and export guarantees so that Indonesian enterprises, including those of the small and medium-scale, can increase their capacity and expand their businesses," Sulaeman said.

Miftah Farid, a senior official at the Trade Ministry, went on to say that the multicultural nature of the Canadian market offers significant potential for Indonesian products, particularly food and beverages. Indonesia's processed food and beverage exports to Canada are also showing a positive trend. In the 2023–2025 period, the export value of the processed food and beverage sector (HS 16–22) rose from approximately $56.4 million in 2023 to $116.7 million in 2025, up by 106.8%.

“Even so, there are a number of market requirements that must be met, including product liability insurance, standards compliance, and strengthening logistics. The Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa is collaborating with the LPEI to facilitate the penetration of more Indonesian small and medium enterprise products into the Canadian market," said Mahdewi Silky, Trade Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa.
