'Indonesia Incorporated': All Hands on Deck for Greater Growth
Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto recently said that the "Indonesia Incorporated" spirit would be crucial in the country's development.
Speaking at the 2026 Indonesia Economic Outlook, Prabowo had taken the opportunity to present the government's strategy to boost growth. But according to Prabowo, all hands must be on deck for Indonesia to be able to stand on its own two feet.
"I propose the 'Indonesia Incorporated' strategy. This is where the large, the strong, the middle [class], the small, and the less fortunate work together. This is where the big ones advance and help the less powerful. This is where the strong ones support the weak," Prabowo told the forum in Jakarta on Friday.
This cooperation also sees the government, businesses, and other stakeholders working together in strengthening national competitiveness, development, and economic growth. On people's welfare, Prabowo said: "A clean and just government helps the weakest and poorest. We rise together. If God is willing, Indonesia will not be just a sleeping giant, but we must rise to become a giant capable of standing and building a better life for its people."
Senior minister Airlangga Hartarto said that Indonesia had been witnessing improving social indicators, including a declining poverty rate and Gini ratio.
"The same goes for unemployment rate, while our workforce size continues to grow," Airlangga said.
In September 2025, the poverty rate had dropped to 8.25% or approximately 23.36 million people. This marks a significant improvement compared to March 2021, during which the poverty rate amounted to 10.14% or 27.54 million people.
Prabowo also told the same conference that Indonesia possessed great political stability.
"I firmly believe that we can maintain political stability in Indonesia. We will maintain security for all. We will respect all agreements established by Indonesia as a government," Prabowo said.
"We have a very strong track record; Indonesia has never defaulted in our history. We always respect all agreements made by previous governments. We are open to investment from anywhere. We are confident that we will emerge with great confidence."
