Jakarta. The state-run utility firm PLN allows its customers to keep an eye on its electricity bills right at the palm of their hand.

The company already has what it calls PLN Mobile, a smartphone app that enables users to check their electricity bills whenever they can, even much earlier than the due date. This way, customers can easily regulate their electricity use.

To do so, users can access the Catat Meter Mandiri (‘Self Meter Recording’) on the mobile app. Simply take a picture of the electricity meter readings at home without having to wait for a technician to come. This photo will immediately be sent to PLN via the app. The company’s system will automatically register the electricity use. The Catat Meter Mandiri feature is available between the 23rd and 27th day of the month.

PLN Mobile also lets customers make electricity bill payments online without having to step out of their house. PLN will process their transactions within a matter of seconds.

Customers can also check out their transaction history via the app. They can also file reports if they encounter any power-related problems and even shop for electricity needs on the marketplace.

PLN Mobile is available for download on Google Play and App Store.
