Halal Indo 2026 Opens as Industry Ministry Pushes Global Competitiveness of Halal Products
Jakarta. The Industry Ministry and PT Dyandra Promosindo officially opened the Halal Indonesia International Industry Expo (Halal Indo) 2026 at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday, bringing together businesses and stakeholders to strengthen the halal industry ecosystem and expand the global reach of Indonesian products.
Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the global halal market presents significant opportunities and has become an increasingly competitive arena that Indonesia needs to capitalize on.
Citing the State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2025-2026, Agus said Muslim consumer spending across six key sectors of the Islamic economy reached US$2.6 trillion in 2024 and is projected to rise to US$3.6 trillion by 2029.
“The global halal industry has enormous potential and continues to grow. This is an economic and trade battle that we must win,” Agus said at the opening ceremony.
Indonesia currently ranks fourth globally in the overall halal ecosystem, according to the minister.
He said Indonesia has established strong positions in several halal-based manufacturing subsectors. The country ranks first globally in modest fashion, third in halal food products and fourth in halal pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
“We are targeting improvements in these leading subsectors within the next two years at the latest, so Indonesia can move up to stronger positions,” Agus said.
Running from Sept. 24 to 27, Halal Indo 2026 occupies 12,740 square meters at ICE BSD and features 350 exhibitors. Organizers are targeting 30,000 visitors during the four-day exhibition.
Dyandra Promosindo President Director Daswar Marpaung said the halal industry encompasses a broad range of sectors, including food and beverages, fashion, cosmetics, healthcare, tourism and hospitality.
“We see the importance of providing a space that connects these various needs, allowing businesses to showcase innovations, understand market developments and meet potential partners,” Daswar said.
The exhibition also features business-matching programs connecting companies with prospective buyers, investors and strategic partners. The program is expected to help businesses develop new distribution networks, expand market access and establish long-term investment partnerships.
The event also includes the Indonesia Halal Industry Award 2026 (IHYA), an initiative of the Industry Ministry recognizing companies and stakeholders for their contributions while encouraging innovation and competitiveness in Indonesia’s halal industry.
