Jakarta. Global Sources Indonesia (GSI) 2026 officially opened Thursday at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) in Senayan, bringing together thousands of buyers, retailers, distributors, brand owners and online sellers with leading manufacturers and suppliers from across Asia.

The three-day international trade exhibition is designed to strengthen business connections between Indonesia’s retail and trade industries and verified suppliers from China, Taiwan, South Korea, India and Indonesia.

The opening day drew strong visitor interest, with thousands of businesspeople filling the show floor from the morning. Around 800 booths showcased products across several categories, including electronics, home and kitchen appliances, gifts and souvenirs, and sporting goods.

Organized by PT Adhouse Clarion Events, the exhibition aims to create tangible business opportunities and support the growth of Indonesia’s domestic economy.

"Today is not simply the opening of an exhibition. It is a moment for Indonesia’s entire retail ecosystem, from the smallest retailers to national distributors, to connect directly with Asia’s best suppliers, discover new products and unlock real business opportunities,” said Toerangga Putra, president director of PT Adhouse Clarion Events.

“We are proud to serve as that bridge,” he added.

GSI 2026 has also received support from major Indonesian industry associations, including the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) and the National Association of Information and Communication Technology Entrepreneurs (Aptiknas).

The associations have encouraged their members to use the exhibition to access new products, strengthen supplier networks and improve business competitiveness.

Hans Harischandra Tanuraharjo, a member of Aprindo’s central executive board, said the participation of retailers represented a strategic step toward adapting to changing market trends.

“Our participation demonstrates our commitment to providing Aprindo members with the best possible access to innovative products, quality suppliers and relevant, up-to-date knowledge,” he said.

Soegiharto Santoso, chairman of Aptiknas, said modern entrepreneurs need more than products to develop their businesses.

“Entrepreneurs need connections, knowledge, insights and inspiration to grow. This is what gives the event strategic value in strengthening Indonesia’s ICT industry ecosystem,” he said.

Beyond product exhibitions, the opening day launched the Retail Industry Conference Series LIVE, featuring industry practitioners and experts discussing developments and future trends in Indonesia’s retail landscape.

The event also introduced the Retail Industry Workshop, a practical education program designed for retailers, brand owners and online sellers. Sessions cover product curation, supplier relationship management and sales growth strategies in the omnichannel retail environment.

Global Sources Indonesia 2026 will continue through Saturday, Sept. 19, offering local businesses additional opportunities to consult with, negotiate with and establish long-term partnerships with Asian manufacturers.
