Jakarta. Swiss watch brand Mido has just added a new GMT watch onto its Ocean Star collection.

First introduced in 1944, the Ocean Star is inspired by Gibraltar's Europa Point Lighthouse, which was known to safely guide men on their maritime conquests. Mido tries to recapture the monument's reliability by adding a GMT function in its new timepiece.

The Ocean Star GMT displays the time in two different time zones: home time and local time. The velvety black dial boldly contrasts with the shiny blue ceramic on the rotating bezel. Its backside is adorned with time-zone indications.

In addition to the usual hour, minute, and second hands, the watch carries a blue varnished 24-hour hand. This additional hand indicates the time in the second time zone by pointing to the hour-circle (24-hour format) on the flange of the dial. An aperture is available at 3 o'clock to indicate the date.

Its intuitive display places the daytime hours against a blue background, and the night-time hours against a black background.

The Ocean Star GMT is designed for adventures by the ocean thanks to the 20-bar water resistance.

The fluorescent White Super-LumiNova on each of the hands and indexes allows the wearer to keep track of time easily underwater. The timepiece incorporates a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides to ensure readability in various conditions.

Also, the Ocean Star GMT's unidirectional rotating bezel in blue ceramic allows the wearer to track elapsed time, be it the time before their next expedition or the time spent underwater.

The fluting on the bezel makes it easier to operate while the extremely hard ceramic is incredibly resistant to scratches and wear.

The case is made of robust stainless steel and presents subtly contrasting polished and satin-finished surfaces. The screwed case back and crown further enhance the Ocean Star GMT’s resistance.

The blue-strapped timepiece is powered by the Caliber 80 which offers a power reserve of up to 80 hours.

The Ocean Star GMT is available in a version with a steel bracelet and orange GMT indications and in two-tone steel and rose gold PVD.
