Jakarta. The free health service team of the Muslim philanthropic organization Dompet Dhuafa recently went to the flood-hit Beuringen village in Pidie Jaya, Aceh.

The team, also known as LKC Dompet Dhuafa Aceh, provided free health checks and medical treatment for the evacuees. Hundreds of evacuees, particularly those suffering post-disaster health problems, used the services. Nurul Fuadhy, a coordinator at the health services initiative, said Saturday that some of the evacuees suffered stomach aches, headaches, and itching.

"Some residents are starting to experience these symptoms, possibly due to suboptimal sanitation conditions in the evacuation sites," Nurul Fuady was quoted as saying in a press statement.

Dompet Dhuafa also urged evacuees to maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness of the environment. Dompet Dhuafa, alongside the chair of PARFI 56 Marcella Zalianty, also distributed hygiene kits to the evacuees.

Dompet Dhuafa said that its disaster response in the disaster-struck areas -- Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra -- would continue.  Dompet Dhuafa's disaster management center team also helped provide meals for the evacuees.
