Dompet Dhuafa Launches Emergency Response in Jakarta Flooding
Jakarta. Muslim philantropic organization Dompet Dhuafa recently launched an emergency response to the floods affecting the Duri Kosambi and Rawa Buaya sub-districts in West Jakarta.
The Dompet Dhuafa Disaster Management Center (DMC) team helped evacuate residents and also distributed ready-to-eat meals. Abdul Aziz, the person in charge of the Jakarta Flood Response at Dompet Dhuafa DMC, said that the floodwaters in the said areas were gradually receding.
"The majority of residents have chosen to stay on the second floors of their homes because there are no evacuation posts yet," said Abdul Aziz.
"Upon arriving at the location on Friday [Jan. 23, 2026], the Dompet Dhuafa DMC team was still receiving requests for evacuation of residents and providing support for ready-to-eat meals."
The team evacuated 10 people from the flood-affected area and evacuated an ailing elderly person. They also distributed 40 portions of ready-to-eat meals to the victims. The team also conducted an assessment to map the impact of the flood and the ongoing needs of affected residents. The recommended follow-up action based on the assessment results was the distribution of additional ready-to-eat meals to residents remaining in their homes.
