Danone Indonesia Upholds Science, State-Of-The-Art Technology in Business
Jakarta. Bottled water company Danone Indonesia said that it upheld science to make sure that its products are of quality, while also contributing to environmental conservation and community empowerment.
The company also makes use of state-of-the-art technologies and its network of international research centers.
Danone Indonesia recently invited its partners to Danone’s headquarters in France and the Evian production manufacturing facility in France. Danone has two business units in Indonesia, namely Waters and Specialized Nutrition. Both have existed in the country for decades. According to Danone Indonesia’s chief executive officer Laurent Boissier, the company has two facilities of international standards, including Danone Specialized Nutrition Indonesia’s research and innovation center in Yogyakarta. Danone also has the Tirta Lab Analysis Center in Jakarta.
“Both research centers reflect our commitment to health through food by making sure our products meet high quality and safety standards,” Laurent was quoted as saying in a recent press statement.
Danone Indonesia also receives support from various research centers across the globe, among others, to develop product prototypes and sustainable packaging. Access to one of the world’s best research centers enables Danone Indonesia to work together with researchers to drive research on hydration, immunity, microbiota, fermentation, and animal and plant proteins, according to Laurent.
The company has also made efforts to contribute to the environment, among others, by conserving water, cutting down emissions, sustainable packaging, and better management of post-consumer waste. As a case in point, Danone Indonesia has launched the #BijakBerplastik campaign to tackle plastic waste. Danone Indonesia said that the company, alongside its partners, could collect 22,000 tons of plastic waste every year. Research by think-tank LPEM UI reported that the #BijakBerplastik campaign could reduce the waste in landfills by 14 percent, while also helping prevent waste from ending up in the ocean. The campaign also gave a 17 percent boost to recycled waste.
Danone Indonesia also has its water policy which embraces three pillars: water resource protection; water circularity in the production system; access to water, sanitation, and hydration. Danne Indonesia alongside other stakeholders has held forums aimed at enabling integrated water resource management. The company has participated in seven such forums in its operational areas. Danone Indonesia is also pursuing a positive water impact, in which the company returns more water than what it uses in the production process.
"Danone Indonesia believes that business growth without environmental sustainability has no future. Environmental sustainability without business growth cannot provide an optimal contribution. Therefore, the company will always be committed to responsible business practices and provide positive contributions to society and the environment," Laurent said.
