Jakarta. A subsidiary of PT Chandra Daya Investasi (CDI) in the shipping and logistics sector, PT Chandra Shipping International (CSI), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) to explore feasibility studies for potential collaboration in chemicals, bitumen, and other maritime transport and logistics areas. This strategic partnership aims to identify opportunities for enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and global reach in the maritime transport and logistics sectors. 

CDI is in charge of developing Chandra Asri Group’s infrastructure businesses, including energy, water, port services, and shipping. As a subsidiary of CDI, CSI seeks to be a growth partner in delivering efficient and reliable maritime transport services to meet the diverse needs of various industries.

CSI and PIS inked the MoU in Jakarta on Oct. 4. This potential collaboration between the two companies is expected to improve service standards, particularly in the transport and logistics of chemical and bitumen products on a global scale. The partnership aims to help reduce environmental impact through environmentally friendly technologies.

According to President Director of Chandra Asri Group and CEO of CDI Erwin Ciputra, the freshly established partnership aims to significantly enhance shipping services through more efficient and sustainable maritime transport.

"This collaboration is designed to streamline supply chain operations and provide a more responsive service supported by technological innovations. As a committed growth partner for various industrial sectors in Indonesia, this initiative is expected not only to enhance Chandra Asri Group’s capability to deliver our products more efficiently and sustainably but also to enable various sectors to leverage the global maritime transport services we provide," Erwin was quoted as saying in a press statement. 

Arief Sukamara, Director of Gas, Petrochemical, and New Business at PIS, also welcomed the partnership. 

"The collaboration is expected to enhance service standards, particularly in maritime transport and logistics for chemical products, bitumen, and other potential logistics services on a global scale, ultimately strengthening Pertamina International Shipping's position in both domestic and international markets. By synergizing with Chandra Shipping International, it is hoped that this will be a positive step toward becoming a market leader in the petrochemical transportation business and other industrial transportation segments in the future."

In the feasibility study conducted by CSI and PIS, both parties will collaborate to explore opportunities to synergize supply chain operations and optimize technology, including environmentally friendly technology solutions, to improve efficiency and sustainability. This partnership also aims to enhance cost-effectiveness, expand access to emerging markets, and strengthen supply chain resilience. Both parties hope that this study will establish new benchmarks in maritime transport and logistics, drive innovation, and raise standards in this sector, thereby making a positive contribution to the maritime industry in Indonesia.
