Jakarta. The state-run employee security agency BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is showing its support for Indonesian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is working with Sampoerna Retail Community (SRC). As many as 3,000 SRC members are part of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan thanks to the so-called “Pojok Untung” (‘Profitable Corner’) on the AYO Toko by SRC app.

“BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is aiming to reach 500,000 MSMEs under SRC. This is part of our way to improve the accessibility of social security, so we can achieve a golden era,” BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s membership director Zainudin said at SRC’s recent MSME festival in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan reported that it had distributed Rp 2.2 billion ($135,828) worth of benefits for 85 claims submitted by SRC members so far since 2023. Also at the same festival, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan handed over the compensation for 2 SRC shop owners. One of the recipients was Tatang Hendarso who received compensation worth Rp 87 million for work accident and treatment. The heir of the late Rosidin also received work accident compensation and scholarship worth totaling Rp 289 million. According to Zainudin, Rosidin’s youngest child --who is still only 5 years old-- will get a scholarship until he goes to college.

“Hopefully, this can help the family members live a decent life. The work accident insurance program does not only protect the participants when they are on the job, but also on their way home from work. This shows how the government is here to protect the people,” Zainudin said.
