Jakarta. Wealthtech app Pluang recently announced its partnership with tech giant Blibli to offer digital gold on the latter's new investment product Bliblinvest.

Blibli has just launched Blibinvest which enables its users to shop and invest within a single ecosystem. Pluang, in partnership with the Bappebti-licensed Pluang Emas Sejahtera, is enabling users on Blibli to invest in digital gold assets.

“Since we launched gold futures in 2019, we notice that gold has become the first investment asset for our users. Beginner investors start with gold, and eventually, they will add more asset classes in their investment portfolio within two or three months,” Pluang co-founder Claudia Kolonas was quoted as saying in a recent press statement.

“We are proud to have been chosen as a Bliblinvest partner to provide access to digital gold investment. Hopefully, gold can open the doors for other investments,” Claudia said.

Starting at just Rp 10,000, Indonesians can become gold investors on Blibli, and get up to 100 percent cashback. Blibli also offers shopping and bill payment rewards to encourage more people to invest. Claudia also advises Indonesians to use their Eid bonus productively, such as by investing it in digital gold assets.

“To thrive in gold investment, Investors should pay attention to at least two factors, first is the dollar position against the Indonesian rupiah, and second is The Fed’s interest rate as a key price driver,” Claudia said.

According to Claudia, Bappebti also makes sure that the physical gold, which the digital gold represents, is stored securely. It means that users do not need to spend extra money to store it in a safe place.

“By having Bliblinvest partner with Pluang, Blibli wishes to provide a gold investment experience that is safe, easy, and rewarding for young investors. So they gain confidence to invest for the future,” Lay Ridwan, the executive vice president for the digital product and automotive category at Blibli, said.

Bappebti reported that monthly digital gold transactions in 2022 reached Rp 173.7 billion in 2022. In just the first two months of 2023, the monthly digital gold transactions stood at Rp 325.76 billion.
