Medan. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has distributed over 1,500 government-aided nutritious meals to the disaster victims in the flood-hit South Tapanuli, North Sumatra.

The agency has partnered with the Aek Pining and Tapsel Sipirok Kilang Papan kitchens to prepare the meals. As many as 1,591 free meals made their way to the flood victims in Batu Horing, Batu Hua, and Sipirok districts on Nov. 26. BGN's spokesperson Khairul Hidayato said that the agency had backed a number of aid distribution for flood victims.

"Previously, the National Land Agency [BGN], through its regional food distribution service providers (SPPGs), sent food aid to Bekasi and Bali during flooding. Our president has instructed us to turn the kitchens that usually serve the schools, but to also cook the meals for disaster victims," Hida was quoted as saying in a press statement.

The distribution also depends on the conditions of each region as the disaster has affected the transportation access. According to the South Tapanuli Regional Coordinator, Wan Apriyanti Lubis, that was the only delivery that the kitchens had successfuly made so far. The kitchens had struggled obtaining the ingredients. Floods have also cut off some access points.
