Jakarta. Adaro Andalan Indonesia (AADI) recently reported that they had recorded a capital expenditure or capex worth $243 million by September 2025, which mainly went to expansion.

AADI reported that the company had allocated between $250 and $300 million in annual capex at the beginning of the year.

"By September 2025, capital expenditure will reach $243 million, primarily used for investment in a power plant to support industrial activities in North Kalimantan, the purchase of barges, and supporting facilities in the company's supply chain," said AADI Director Lie Luckman on Monday.

As of the third quarter of 2025, AADI sales volume had reached 52.69 million tons with a strip ratio of 4.2x. This performance aligns with AADI's 2025 plan of 65-67 million tons of coal and a strip ratio guidance of 4.3x. AADI mainly sold its coal to Indonesia, followed by Malaysia, India, and China. The majority of the company's customers consisted of coal-fired power plants and other end-users.

According to Lie, the 2025 thermal coal market faced price pressure amid abundant supply due to increased production in major importing countries and declining seasonal demand. Coal is expected to maintain its role in the in the global energy mix as energy demand increases in the long term.

AADI recorded $3.6 billion in revenue on Q3 2025, down 11% year-on-year due to lower coal prices.  The company's net profit fell 44% year-on-year to $655 million in the third quarter.

"The company continues to strive to implement good governance, financial discipline, productivity improvement efforts, and cost control amid market volatility," Lie said.
