Jakarta. The 2026 Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) recently announced that it had booked $19.51 million in transactions throughout the event, exceeding the target of $10 million.

“We managed to secure $19.51 million in transactions throughout the event, which took place on November 6-9,” Trade Minister Budi Santoso was quoted as saying in a press statement.

About $15.30 million of those transactions were signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs). Fairground transactions amounted to $436,280, while business matching deals totaled $3.77 million.

“Around Rp 122.23 billion [around $7.32 million] or 37.97 percent of the total transactions were registered by micro, small, and medium enterprises [MSMEs]. This achievement not only reflects Indonesian designers’ creativity, but also reflects the solid partnership between the government, businesses, and all stakeholders in empowering the national modest fashion industry ecosystem,” Budi said.

As many as 11,459 people had come to the four-day 2026 JMFW. The event also featured the work of 242 Indonesian brands. Despite being held separately from the Trade Expo Indonesia, 2026 JMFW still attracted a huge crowd of international buyers, some of whom had come from Malaysia, Italy, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. Japanese and Sudanese buyers also came to the event, reflecting a huge international demand for Indonesian modest fashion.

“We want JMFW to cement Indonesia’s position as the world’s center for modest fashion,” Budi said.

Imam Hartono, the chief for Islamic economics and finance at Bank Indonesia, said that modest fashion is currently facing an uptrend. “That’s why we cannot be left behind. We must capitalize on this significant opportunity to boost economic growth,” he said.

Istafiana Candarini, also known as Irin, marks her fifth year of participating in JMFW with her own brand Kami. This time, the brand showcased the collection “Kami’s Love for Wastra”. Irin talked of how she got to meet an Italian buyer, who showed interest in Kami’s sportswear and basic wear collections.

“This meeting is still at the exploratory stage, but I hope it can lead to a collaboration,” Irin said.

The closing ceremony featured a fashion show of Indonesian brands. They were Unique Indonesia x Kantor Perwakilan (KPw)BI Jawa Barat, Rumah Kebaya Velga x KPw BI DKI Jakarta, Tarasari x KPw BI Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), Pelanusa x KPw BI Malang, Visa Cottonbatik x KPw BI Solo, Nora Indonesia x KPw BI Malang, Kami, PUTHIC By Nissa Khoirina x KPw BI DIY, dan Nina Nugroho.

The event also received support from Bank Indonesia, Creative Economy Ministry, Jakarta Provincial Government, Yogyakarta’s Industry and Trade Department, Sarinah, Pegadaian, KAI, Bank Syariah Indonesia, Wardah, Shopee Indonesia, Ditali Cipta Kreatif, and Balai Kartini.

The Indonesian handicraft producer and exporter association (Asephi) and the Indonesia Fashion Chamber (IFC) also took part in the event.
