Jakarta. The Indonesian Police confirmed that the person who brandished a gun at the police headquarters in South Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon was a woman.

Dressing in blue niqab and black gown, the woman was shot to death after pointing a gun in front of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) building.

“The woman has been identified by initials ZA, born in Jakarta in 1995,” an officer familiar with the investigation told the Jakarta Globe.

The woman's address is in Ciracas, East Jakarta, the source said.

As more details are emerging, the slain woman is known as Zakiah Aini.

She is the youngest of three children in the family and single.

It turns out the weapon in her possession is a nitro piston air gun commonly used in sporting and hunting, according to preliminary investigation.

Amateur videos circulating on social media show Zakiah walked to the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) building at the police compound and pointed a gun in front of the door.

Witnesses said she fired several shots at officers.

She was ultimately shot and fell to the ground  near the parking lot. A pistol and a yellow paper folder can be seen near the body.

The incident occurred at the west area of the National Police compound, around 100 meters from the office of National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Police have yet to determine any terror affiliate the woman belonged to, but recent terror attacks in the country including Sunday’s church bombing in South Sulawesi capital, Makassar have been blamed on shadowy, homegrown terror group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD).
