Woman Arrested for Posting Her Sensual Photos on Instagram
Balikpapan. A woman in East Kalimantan has been arrested for posting explicit images and audio recordings on her Instagram account, the local police said on Friday.
The suspect, identified by the initials YRT and aged 23, is also accused of distributing these explicit materials to her followers in exchange for financial gains.
She was presented during a news conference at the provincial police headquarters in Balikpapan.
"I am currently unemployed and engaged in this with the help of my boyfriend. I learned how to do it from Twitter," the suspect explained when asked about the content on her Instagram account.
She admitted to offering paid explicit images and audio recordings since January, using the proceeds for leisure. Her Instagram account boasts around 22,000 followers.
YRT faces charges under the Electronic Transaction and Information Law, which prohibits the electronic distribution of pornographic content on public platforms. If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to six years in prison.
Police allege that she has earned at least Rp 40 million ($2,578) from selling her explicit photos and audio recordings.
The East Kalimantan Police spokesman, Chief Comr. Artanto, said YRT was arrested following an investigation by the cybercrime unit.
"When investigating her Instagram account, the cyber team discovered her explicit photos and recordings of moans," Artanto explained.
