Jakarta. Firefighters successfully rescued two window cleaners from a collapsed cradle hanging at a high-rise building in Jakarta on Friday.

The incident unfolded when one of the wire ropes supporting the platform snapped, trapping the workers in the cradle. Fortunately, the broken rope became entangled at the eighth-floor window of the State University of Jakarta (UNJ) building, preventing the cradle from falling.

Rescue workers used suspended ropes to safely lower the window cleaners down the façade after they were stuck in the partially collapsed cradle for about an hour.

"The broken rope was caught in something; otherwise, I would have fallen to the ground," Dimas Saputra, one of the two window cleaners, said after the rescue.

Following the incident, both Dimas and his co-worker, identified only as Reza, received immediate medical treatment, and it was later confirmed that they were uninjured.
