Jakarta. The individual driving a Toyota Fortuner with a fake military plate, who engaged in reckless driving, was arrested on Tuesday.

"Yes, it's true (arrested). We'll hold a press conference, the timing is being sought," said Nugraha Gumilar, Indonesia's Military (TNI) spokesperson, on Wednesday.

According to the TNI's Instagram page @puspomtni, the perpetrator identified as RWK was apprehended at his residence in Cempaka Putih. Initial investigations reveal that he is a businessman and not a member of the military.

"The reason for the perpetrator's use of a fake military license plate was to evade the odd-even rule enforced in Jakarta," the account stated.

In a widely circulated video, a Toyota Fortuner with a military plate was seen driving recklessly on the highway in the Cikampek Toll Road in West Java. The driver, initially claiming military affiliation, later falsely asserted to be the sibling of an army general named "Tony Abraham." This claim was debunked. Subsequently, a verbal altercation ensued.

Retired Air Marshal Asep Adang Supriyadi, the real plate owner, lodged a complaint report with the Jakarta Metro Police to shed light on the issue.

Asep expressed feeling aggrieved by the driver's actions, emphasizing that he had never loaned the military plate to anyone, including the reckless Fortuner driver. "I have never authorized the use of the military plate number," he stated.

Furthermore, Asep denied the driver's claim of familial ties to the military. "We have no relationship and are unfamiliar with the civilian who committed a traffic violation on kilometer 57 of the Cikampek Toll Road," he clarified.
