Sudirman–Thamrin Roads Closed This Weekend for Jakarta Running Festival
Jakarta. Several major roads in Central Jakarta will be temporarily closed on Saturday and Sunday mornings to make way for the Jakarta Running Festival, which will draw thousands of participants from across Indonesia.
The road closures will affect Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, MH Thamrin, Gatot Subroto, Gerbang Pemuda, and Sisingamangaraja.
Authorities advise motorists to plan their trips in advance, avoid the affected areas during the event hours, and expect delays around central Jakarta due to the large number of participants and spectators.
Jakarta Transportation Department head Syafrin Liputo said traffic diversions will be implemented around the race route to maintain public safety and traffic flow.
“Traffic will be diverted between 3:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.,” Syafrin said in a written statement on Friday.
“We urge road users to avoid the affected areas, follow traffic signs, and comply with instructions from officers on duty for everyone’s safety,” he added.
