Small Plane Crashes in Gorontalo, Killing 4 People Onboard

Gorontalo. A small plane belonging to Indonesia’s Sam Air airline crashed in Pohuwato regency, Gorontalo province, on Sunday morning, killing all four people onboard, authorities reported.

The incident occurred while the aircraft was attempting to land at Panua Airport in the regency.

“The plane crashed into a shrimp pond area not far from the airport,” said Heriyanto, head of the Gorontalo Search and Rescue Agency.

The aircraft, flight number DHC6, had departed from Jalaludin Airport in the provincial capital also named Gorontalo at 7:03 a.m. local time (11:03 p.m. GMT on Saturday) and was estimated to land at Panua Airport at 7:33 a.m.

The deceased were identified as pilot M. Saefurubi, co-pilot M. Arthur VG, mechanic Budijanto, and passenger Sri Mayke Male.

The crash site was approximately 300 meters from the airport.

The plane, the type of which has yet to be disclosed, sustained severe damage from its nose to the cockpit area. The local meteorology agency reported that the weather was cloudy at the time of the incident.
