Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo highlighted the role of Gerakan Pemuda (GP) Ansor, the youth wing of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, in maintaining political stability amidst various global challenges.

President Jokowi, who attended the Inauguration Towards Ansor of the Future event at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, expressed his admiration for the organization's spirit. "When I heard the GP Ansor anthem, I got goosebumps. Ansor moves forward in unity, breaking through a thousand obstacles. This spirit of unity and perseverance must continue to be upheld by GP Ansor in safeguarding the nation's unity and embodying 'hubbul wathon minal iman' (love for the homeland is part of faith)," said President Jokowi.

The President addressed the global challenges facing Indonesia and other countries, including currency exchange rates, oil prices, and loan interest rates. He emphasized the importance of political stability for economic development.

"What I consider most crucial is how we can maintain political stability to prevent turbulence because it is the key to development in any country," said President Jokowi.

During the event, President Jokowi also highlighted Indonesia's achievements in reclaiming strategic assets, including Freeport, where Indonesia now holds a majority stake.

"Similarly, with the Rokan Block, we took it over from Chevron, America. We have acquired it 100 percent. I want to see if we manage it better than foreign entities managed it," said the President.

Concluding his speech, President Jokowi extended his congratulations and encouragement to all newly inaugurated members and leaders of GP Ansor, which include prominent politicians and entrepreneurs such as Chairman of Recapital Group Rosan P. Roeslani, senior Gerindra Party politician Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, and former Chief Security Affairs Minister Wiranto.

The President expressed his hopes that GP Ansor members will continue to work hard towards realizing the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045, where Indonesia aims to become a developed country by its 100th anniversary.

"I congratulate and wish success to all newly appointed GP Ansor leaders. I believe the new leadership of GP Ansor will continue to strengthen national unity towards the Golden Indonesia we aspire to," said the President.

NU Chairman KH Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya) urged the newly inaugurated GP Ansor leaders and all Ansor cadres across Indonesia to learn from President Jokowi. He acknowledged that Jokowi had ushered Indonesia into a decade of strategic investments for the future, laying critical foundations for a better future for the nation.

One key principle to emulate from President Jokowi, he added, is the principle of sustainable development, noting that Indonesia's development will always build upon past successes continuously refined.
