Prabowo to Host Singapore's Wong to Step Up Ties
Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto will host Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Jakarta on Monday for talks that will cover beefing up bilateral ties.
Every year, leaders of both countries usually meet alternately in each country to review how relations have progressed. Wong had already set foot in Jakarta on Sunday night. In a social media post, Wong wrote that they would have a “full agenda ahead”.
“With discussions on how our countries can deepen our cooperation. In a more uncertain world, we can create more opportunities for our people by working together,” Wong said, not long after arriving.
Both leaders are expected to give a press statement later today on what they have agreed on. This is the second leaders’ retreat that Wong and Prabowo have had. It is also taking place when countries are mitigating the impact of the US-Iran war.
Indonesia’s bilateral trade is on a slight uptrend, according to the latest available data by the Trade Ministry. Bilateral export-import activities came in at almost $14 billion in January-May 2026, up by around 2% from the previous year.
