Prabowo Departs for Japan on Invitation from Emperor Naruhito
Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto departed for Japan on Sunday for an official visit at the invitation of Emperor Naruhito, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Prabowo is also scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo.
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said Japan has long been a strategic partner for Indonesia, with cooperation spanning multiple sectors. The visit will focus on enhancing collaboration in trade, technology, education, and environmental management.
“The President will discuss key strategic areas that have long underpinned our cooperation with the Japanese government, including trade, technology, education, as well as forestry and the environment,” Prasetyo said in Jakarta.
“This visit is to fulfill an invitation from Emperor Naruhito. The agenda includes a meeting with the Emperor, followed by talks with Prime Minister Takaichi,” he added.
After concluding his engagements in Japan, Prabowo and his delegation are scheduled to continue their working visit to South Korea, as part of Indonesia’s broader diplomatic efforts to strengthen its strategic position in East Asia.
Accompanying the president are Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
