Poltracking Survey: Prabowo-Gibran Approval Holds Firm Above 74%
Jakarta. Public trust in the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka remains strong at 75.1%, according to the latest survey by Poltracking Indonesia, indicating resilient support despite global geopolitical tensions.
The survey, conducted from March 2 to 8, 2026, found that 74.9% of respondents expressed satisfaction with Prabowo’s performance as president, while 74.1% said they were satisfied with the overall performance of the government.
Poltracking’s lead researcher Masduri Amrawi said the figures reflect a solid perception of the government amid global political and economic pressures. “Despite the geopolitical tensions and their impact on economic and other sectors, public trust in the Prabowo-Gibran administration remains relatively high at 75.1%,” he said during the survey’s release on Monday.
The nationwide survey involved 1,220 respondents across all 38 provinces, using face-to-face interviews and a stratified multistage random sampling method. It has a margin of error of ±2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
Government programs appear to be a key driver behind the high approval ratings. The flagship Free Nutritious Meals program, known as MBG, was cited by 23% of respondents as the main reason for their satisfaction. The program has also emerged as the most widely recognized and debated policy, with 88% of respondents aware of it.
While 55% expressed satisfaction with the MBG program, 35.8% said they were dissatisfied, highlighting ongoing public debate over its implementation. Still, the initiative remains the single biggest contributor to overall approval of the administration.
Targeted social assistance programs ranked as the second most important factor, with 13.8% of respondents citing well-targeted government aid as a reason for their satisfaction. Leadership style also played a role, with 10.2% pointing to what they described as firm and authoritative leadership.
Beyond policy programs, the survey found that 77.8% of respondents believe the government has succeeded in maintaining religious harmony, while 69.9% credited it with maintaining security. Another 69.4% said the administration has been effective in preserving national unity.
Approval ratings were broadly consistent across regions, age groups, and education levels, with most demographic segments expressing satisfaction. Sulawesi was the only region where opinions were more evenly split between satisfied and dissatisfied respondents.
The survey also highlighted broader institutional trust, with the Indonesian Military (TNI) receiving the highest satisfaction rating at 77.6%, followed by the presidency at 64.1% and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at 62.9%.
Looking ahead to the 2029 elections, Prabowo remains the most prominent figure in voters’ minds, with 32.9% naming him as their preferred presidential candidate in an open-ended question. He was followed by Dedi Mulyadi at 13.5% and Anies Baswedan at 9.2%. For the vice presidency, Gibran led with 26.8%.
In party preference, Prabowo’s Gerindra Party topped the list with 26.1% electability, followed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) at 15.4% and Golkar at 9%.
