Police Arrest Suspect in Rp 13 Billion Luxury Watch Store Heist
Jakarta. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have arrested a suspect involved in a luxury watch store robbery in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2 area, Teluk Naga, Tangerang, Banten.
"The suspect, identified as HK, was arrested at a hotel in Cipanas, Puncak (West Java)," said Chief of Public Relations Ade Ary Syam Indradi, to reporters on Wednesday. HK was arrested with 18 of the stolen watches.
Ade Ary said the stolen goods were valued at nearly Rp 13 billion ($798,000), including various brands such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, and Patek Philippe.
"There were 10 Rolex pieces, 6 Audemars Piguet, and 2 Patek Philippe," Ade Ary added during a Thursday interview.
The heist occurred at a luxury watch store in the PIK 2 area on Saturday, June 8.
In circulated footage, the suspect is seen wearing a white hat, shirt, and shorts, brandishing a sharp weapon at store employees. Three employees were seen being escorted into a room and threatened by the suspect holding the weapon. The suspect subsequently seized several watches from the store.
