Jakarta. The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has urged the National Awakening Party (PKB) to gracefully accept the results of the 2024 Presidential Election.

Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) is one of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia. PKB, on the other hand, is a political party that originated from NU.

The Secretary-General of PBNU, Saifullah Yusuf, has called on PKB to accept defeat with magnanimity and extend congratulations to the newly elected president and vice president, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"The General Election Commission (KPU) has announced the winner. So, acknowledge it and offer your congratulations," he said in a written statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

This statement was made by Saifullah Yusuf, affectionately known as Gus Ipul, in response to numerous maneuvers carried out by PKB leader Muhaimin Iskandar, who was also the running mate for presidential candidate Anies Baswedan.

Anies and Muhaimin are demanding a revote and the disqualification of president-elect Prabowo Subianto in their motion challenging the 2024 presidential election result.

According to Gus Ipul, the maneuvers undertaken by PKB will not yield anything but emptiness. He also reminded PKB that it exists because of the efforts of NU clerics.

"If there's an increase in PKB's vote tally, it's not just the work of its officials, but also the work of village clerics and scholars who have also contributed to ensure PKB's existence," the former vice governor of East Java said.

Gus Ipul emphasized that the current claimed results by PKB are the outcome of the collective effort of NU regional officials. "Do not claim that the current results are solely the work of its chairman, but rather they are the result of the collective effort of NU regional officials," he stressed.

On Wednesday, March 20, the KPU officially announced the outcomes of the 2024 elections. In the 2024 presidential election, the candidate pair of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka emerged victorious with a total of 96,214,691 votes, accounting for 58.83 percent of the total.
