KPAI and South Tangerang Police Probe Bullying Incident at Elite School

South Tangerang. The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) visited Binus School Serpong in South Tangerang on Wednesday to address and discuss a bullying case involving a group of students, including the son of renowned artist Vincent Rompies.

"This child still needs recovery, and we need to collaborate to ensure that the child can heal psychologically and emotionally. The level of trauma still requires time to heal," the Commissioner of KPAI Diyah Puspitarini said.

Reportedly, three bullying perpetrators have been expelled from the elite private school, while others are in the process of expulsion. The South Tangerang Police are investigating, and collecting evidence such as video recordings and statements from witnesses, including the victim and their family.

On Monday, The police conducted a crime scene investigation at a local stall (warung) suspected to be the site of the incident and interviewed witnesses and the victim, who suffered bruises and burn injuries.

A Binus School student in Serpong, South Tangerang, Banten, was taken to the hospital on Monday, allegedly a victim of bullying by seniors as a requirement to join a group.

The victim, a prospective gang member, was reportedly subjected to various demands by seniors, including buying food and enduring physical violence. The victim was also tied to a pole and beaten with a wooden plank. Some other students are suspected of laughing and recording the incident.
