Kite String Causes Helicopter Crash in Bali, No Fatalities Reported
Denpasar. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation under the Ministry of Transportation has confirmed that there were no fatalities in the helicopter crash that occurred in Bali on Friday at 3:33 p.m. local time.
Mokhammad Khusnu, Head of International Cooperation and Public Relations at the Directorate General, said that the crash was suspected to have been caused by entanglement with a kite string.
“The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has received a report of the crash involving a PK-WSP Bell 505 helicopter owned by Whitesky Aviation in Suluban Pecatu, South Kuta, Bali on Friday, July 19, at 3:33 p.m. local time due to entanglement with a kite string,” Khusnu said.
Khusnu mentioned that the helicopter had one pilot and four passengers on board. “Initial information confirms that all passengers survived the crash,” he said.
Currently, flight inspectors from the airport authority are en route to the crash site.
“Whitesky Aviation has also dispatched an investigation team to the scene. Further updates will be provided,” he added.
The Ministry of Transportation will intensify awareness and supervision of the dangers posed by kites, in coordination with the acting governor and local authorities in Bali.
“This is to ensure the safety and security of flights,” Khusnu said.
