Khofifah Says 4 Parties Endorse Her Reelection Bid in East Java
Jakarta. Former East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa claimed on Friday that she has received endorsement from four political parties to seek reelection in November,
She said the Democratic Party and the Golkar Party have officially endorsed her bid while the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) and the National Mandate Party (PAN) will formally announce their support at a later date.
The former social affairs minister will contest with Emil Dardak as her running mate.
"The Democratic Party has agreed on the pairing of Khofifah and Emil, and now we receive additional support from the Golkar Party,” Khofifah told reporters during her visit to the official residence of Golkar Chairman Airlangga Hartarto in South Jakarta.
“We hope that Gerindra and PAN will follow suit," she added.
She could face Muslim cleric Marzuki Mustamar who is set to run with the nomination from the National Awakening Party (PKB).
