Jakarta. Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Chairman Kaesang Pangarep led his team to remove all campaign materials in a West Jakarta area on Saturday evening, which marked the last day of the campaign season ahead of the presidential and legislative elections.

The youngest son of President Joko Widodo led his team to visit Kedoya in Kebon Jeruk district to take down posters and banners carrying campaign messages by PSI candidates.

His elder brother, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is contesting the vice-presidential post alongside presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto.

Kaesang said he has instructed PSI members to do the same work across the country.

"The cooling-off period begins tomorrow so we voluntarily remove our banners and posters to be recycled,” Kaesang told reporters.

The quiet period applies until the election day on February 14, during which voters will cast votes to elect the president, senators, and legislative members at all levels.

The General Election Commission (KPU) has imposed a ban on all candidates and political parties from holding rallies or campaigning on any platform during this period.

Any violation can be deemed a criminal offense punishable by a prison sentence of up to four years and a maximum fine of Rp 48 million ($3,000).
