Amman. Jordan has expressed readiness to support Indonesia’s plan to deploy peacekeeping troops to Gaza, Foreign Minister Sugiono said on Wednesday, following a meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and King Abdullah II.

Sugiono delivered the remarks after accompanying Prabowo in talks with King Abdullah II at Basman Palace in Amman.

Indonesia has previously committed to preparing 8,000 peacekeeping personnel to join the proposed International Stabilization Force (ISF), part of a broader “Board of Peace” initiative put forward by US President Donald Trump.

“The key point is that Jordan is ready to provide support when Indonesia sends its troops,” Sugiono said at the Malka Military Base in Amman.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said Jordan’s backing is strategically significant, as the country serves as one of the main gateways to Gaza via land, sea, and air routes.

He added that both Jordan and Indonesia support a two-state solution as the only lasting path toward ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Following the meeting, King Abdullah II personally accompanied Prabowo to the airport and even drove part of the way himself — a gesture Teddy described as symbolic of the close personal and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

“The moment symbolized the strong personal and diplomatic relationship between Indonesia and Jordan amid our shared commitment to advancing regional peace,” Teddy said.

Also accompanying Prabowo during the visit was Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Jordan — a milestone both sides described as historic.

“It is always a pleasure to see you, especially in your second home, Jordan,” King Abdullah II told Prabowo. “My people and your people know that we have had a very special brotherly relationship over the years.”
