Odense, Denmark. Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie captured the 2025 Denmark Open men’s singles title on Sunday after defeating world No. 1 Shi Yu Qi of China in a thrilling three-game final at Odense Sports Park.

Jonatan, 27, fought back from one game down to secure victory 13–21, 21–15, 21–15 in a match that lasted one hour and 12 minutes.

Facing a dominant opponent known for his sharp net play and attacking precision, Jonatan struggled in the opening game as Shi controlled the tempo and took the lead 21–13.

But the Indonesian star rallied in the second game, displaying greater patience and tactical variety. Mixing deep clears with sharp smashes to the corners, he regained momentum. Backed by loud support from Indonesian fans in the stands, Jonatan leveled the match 21–15.

The triumph marks Jonatan’s first Denmark Open title and another major achievement in his BWF World Tour Super 750 campaign, reinforcing his position among the world’s elite men’s singles players.

Earlier in the tournament, Indonesia also reached the men’s doubles final through Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, who finished as runners-up after a close three-game loss to Japan’s Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi, 18–21, 21–15, 19–21, in a match lasting 67 minutes.
