Jokowi’s Grandson Becomes Player Escort for Argentinian Goalie
Jakarta. Not many people were aware that the grandson of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was one of the mascot children during the friendly football match between Indonesia and reigning world champions Argentina on Monday evening.
Maybe not even Argentinian goalkeeper Emilliano Martinez who held hands with the VVIP boy as both teams walked along the corridor to the pitch inside Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.
Jan Ethes Srinarendra, 7, is Jokowi’s first grandson from his eldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
"He’s lost but there he is with Martinez," Gibran made a joke of his son as he posted the picture of Jan Ethes standing in front of the towering Argentinian goalkeeper.
After performing his duty as a player escort, Jan Ethes was seen with his grandfather who seemed to enjoy the entire match from the first minute despite his side losing 0-2.
And it seemed also that Jan Ethes and his fellow mascot children were successful in reminding players that children were watching the sport, as only one yellow card was dished out by the referee.
