Jakarta. State-owned toll road operator Jasa Marga announced on Sunday that toll services at seven major gates in Jakarta have resumed after being vandalized during a week of protests that began on August 25.

Jasa Marga President Director Rivan Purwantono said the affected gates were now fully operational, with staff equipped with mobile payment devices to ensure smooth traffic flows while automatic transaction machines continue to undergo repairs.

The seven toll gates are located at key points in the capital: Senayan, Pejompongan, Semanggi 1, Semanggi 2, Kuningan, Slipi 1, and Slipi 2. Their reopening restores normal traffic connections across the Cawang–Tomang–Pluit corridor.

“During the recovery process, we deployed staff with mobile readers to maintain safe and smooth traffic. With support from all parties, we confirm that transaction services at these gates are fully restored,” Rivan said in a statement.

He added that other automatic toll booths (GTOs) had also been reactivated. In total, 17 toll gates have been restored since the protests, with five more still under repair.

“Our target is to have all gates operational by September 10. Physical repairs take time, but service quality for road users will not be compromised during the process,” he said.

Rivan made the remarks after inspecting the restored toll facilities with National Police Traffic Corps Chief Insp. Gen. Agus Suryo Nugroho.

The toll gates were among dozens of public facilities damaged during violent demonstrations sparked by public anger over lawmakers’ monthly housing allowances. The protests have since escalated into broader unrest in several provinces.
