Jakarta-Bogor Link Disrupted as Road Section in Depok Gives Way
Depok, West Java. A section of a main road in Depok that connects Jakarta and Bogor collapsed on Tuesday after heavy rainfall, leaving a 20-meter-long crack along the roadside in Cisalak, Sukmajaya District.
The collapse also brought down metal safety barriers, prompting local authorities to install warning signs to divert motorists from the affected area. No immediate repair work was carried out.
According to Salomo, an inspector with the Public Works Ministry, the road had not been resurfaced for many years.
“Heavy rain and the aging road surface caused the collapse. The soil beneath the asphalt could no longer bear the load,” Salomo said at the scene.
He added that repairs cannot begin immediately as they require careful planning to ensure the rebuilt section is both safe and long-lasting.
“Motorists traveling on this route should exercise extra caution, as further collapses are possible,” he warned.
