Israeli Strikes on Southern Gaza Kill 38, Including Children
Beirut. Israeli airstrikes on residential areas in southern Gaza on Friday killed 38 people, including 13 children from one extended family, according to Palestinian health officials. In northern Gaza, health authorities reported an Israeli raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital, one of the few remaining medical facilities, amid worsening humanitarian conditions.
In Lebanon, Israeli strikes in the southeast killed three journalists affiliated with Hezbollah-aligned media outlets.
The Health Ministry in Gaza stated that Israeli shelling and airstrikes targeted the southern city of Khan Younis, causing significant casualties and injuries. Despite claims of targeting Hamas militants, residents reported no warning prior to the attacks. Graphic footage showed rescuers retrieving the bodies of children from the rubble.
Saleh al-Farra, a survivor of the Khan Younis attack, recounted the panic as his family sought shelter from the bombardment. He described waking up in the debris, unsure of his family’s fate.
The Israeli military acknowledged operations around Kamal Adwan Hospital, citing intelligence on militant activity. However, humanitarian organizations condemned the situation, with the World Health Organization reporting a loss of contact with hospital staff. The hospital is overwhelmed, treating around 200 trauma patients daily amid severe shortages.
As Israeli forces tighten their grip on northern Gaza, the UN warns that hundreds of thousands are trapped with minimal access to food and supplies. The ongoing conflict has claimed over 42,000 Palestinian lives, with women and children constituting more than half of the fatalities, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
In Lebanon, heavy airstrikes struck a previously untouched area, killing journalists from Al-Mayadeen TV and Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV. The attacks follow escalating tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, where Israeli forces reported casualties among soldiers during ground operations in Gaza.
