Doha. In preparation for the upcoming 2023 Asian Cup, Indonesia's national football team, managed by South Korean coach Shin Tae-yong, has selected a squad of 26 players.

The team comprises eight naturalized players, namely Marc Klok, Justin Hubner, Jordi Amat, Elkan Baggott, Sandy Walsh, Rafael Struick, Shayne Pattynama, and Ivar Jenner.

Notably, two players, Arkhan Fikri (Arema FC) and Saddil Ramdani (Sabah FA), have been dropped from the roster for technical reasons.

Coach Shin Tae-yong's decision to exclude Arkhan Fikri and Saddil Ramdani was based on technical considerations, leading to their return from the team. In their place, Adam Alis, who was initially omitted, has been reinstated.

The Garuda squad is currently focusing on preparing for their opening match in the 2023 Asian Cup, having completed three friendly matches in Turkey and Qatar. Unfortunately, the team faced defeats in all three matches, losing 0-4 and 1-2 against Libya and 0-5 against Iran in Qatar.

These friendly matches served as a benchmark for Coach Shin Tae-yong in finalizing the squad for the Asian Cup.

The 2023 Asian Cup is scheduled to take place from Jan. 12 to Feb. 10, 2024. Indonesia is placed in Group D alongside Iraq, Japan, and Vietnam. Their first match is against Iraq on Jan. 15, followed by Vietnam on Jan. 19, and the last group-stage match against Japan on Jan. 24.
