Jakarta. The Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles recently warned its citizens living in or visiting the area to be on the alert as crimes continue to rise.

According to the circular, the warning also applies to the consulate general’s areas of jurisdiction, namely Arizona, Southern California, Colorado, Hawaii, Southern Nevada, Utah, and the US Pacific Islands region.

The Indonesian consulate general tells its citizens to be careful wherever they are, while also keeping their valuables and important documents safe. Citizens should stay updated on the local security situation, be it through mass media or the local authorities. They should also keep their mobile phone, wallet, and passport safe when traveling.

"In case of an emergency, you should immediately look for a safe place and call 911. For Indonesian citizens who are within the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles’ areas of jurisdiction and are in need of our help, call our 24/7 hotline at +1 (213) 590-8095)," the consulate writes in its Instagram account @indonesiainla.
