Indonesian Citizens Advised to Anticipate Flight Disruptions Amid Iran-Israel Conflict
Jakarta. Indonesian citizens planning air travel routes through Middle Eastern airspace or transit airports are urged to anticipate flight schedule disruptions due to the recent conflict between Iran and Israel.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry has urged Indonesian nationals to promptly contact airlines to obtain the latest information regarding their flights.
"The Ministry reiterates its call to all Indonesian citizens planning to travel to Iran and Israel to postpone their travel plans," the Ministry stated on Sunday.
Escalating security situations in the Middle East have led several countries in the region to impose restrictions or closures on their airspace for flights.
Several countries, such as Jordan, Israel, Iraq, and Lebanon, have temporarily suspended flights in their airspace after Iran launched drones and ballistic missiles toward Israel.
The Ministry and Indonesian representatives in the Middle East are closely monitoring the escalation following Israel's attack on Iranian diplomatic facilities in Damascus and Iran's retaliatory strikes on Israel. The attack marked the first time Iran has launched a direct military assault on Israel, risking a wider regional conflict.
"In case of emergencies, Indonesian citizens can immediately contact the hotline numbers of the nearest Indonesian representative or access the Safe Travel mobile application provided by the Foreign Affairs Ministry," it stated.
The US and Israel had been bracing for an attack for days after Iran said it would retaliate for a suspected Israeli strike this month on an Iranian consular building in Syria that killed 12 people, including two senior Iranian generals in the Revolutionary Guard’s elite Quds Force.
