Ahmedabad, India. Indonesia made history on Sunday by capturing its first AVC Men’s Cup title, defeating regional powerhouse South Korea in straight sets in a stunning upset at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, India.

The Indonesian men's volleyball team, coached by Cuban-born Reidel Toiran, produced a composed and dominant performance to win 34-32, 25-16, 25-23, avenging a 3-0 defeat to the same opponent during the tournament's group stage.

The victory was particularly significant as Indonesia had failed to beat South Korea in its previous five meetings before Sunday's final.

Indonesia survived a tense opening set that stretched to 34-32 before taking firm control of the match. Confidence surged in the second set as opposite hitter Boy Arnez Arabi delivered four service aces that rattled the Korean side and forced a series of lineup changes.

Although the third set was more evenly contested, Indonesia maintained its composure and never allowed South Korea to regain momentum, sealing the championship in straight sets.

Veteran middle blocker Hendra Kurniawan and outside hitter Farhan Halim provided leadership for a youthful squad that also featured setter Alfin Daniel, opposite hitter Boy Arnez Arabi, and emerging national team players Rama Fazza, Fauzan Nibras, and Putra Hidayatullah.

Indonesia's path to the title was far from straightforward.

After opening the tournament with a heavy defeat to South Korea, the team bounced back with hard-fought victories over Qatar (3-2), Thailand (3-2), and Oman (3-1) to reach the semifinals. There, Indonesia displayed remarkable resilience by edging host nation India 3-2 to secure a place in the championship match.

South Korea also endured an uneven campaign, recovering from a 3-2 opening loss to Thailand before advancing to the final with a series of victories, including a 3-1 semifinal win over Qatar.

Indonesia's triumph capped one of the country's most memorable volleyball campaigns, highlighting the rapid progress of a team that blended experienced veterans with an emerging generation of talent.

The AVC Men’s Cup features 11 of Asia's leading men's national teams that are not participating in the Volleyball Nations League, providing a major international platform for the region's next tier of volleyball powers.
