Indonesia, Peru to Sign CEPA During President Boluarte’s Jakarta Visit
Jakarta. Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte has arrived in Indonesia for a state visit to meet with President Prabowo Subianto on Monday and discuss expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Boluarte landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on Sunday afternoon, where she was greeted with a traditional dance performance and a welcoming delegation that included Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Banten Governor Andra Soni, Indonesian Ambassador to Peru Ricky Suhendar, Peruvian Ambassador to Indonesia Luis Raúl Tsuboyama Galván, and Peruvian Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer Salcedo, who had arrived earlier.
Upon entering the terminal, Boluarte paid her respects to both the Peruvian and Indonesian flags before proceeding with the welcoming ceremony.
The visit follows an invitation from President Prabowo, extended when the two leaders met at the APEC Summit in Peru in November 2024.
Last Thursday, Trade Minister Budi Santoso said Boluarte and Prabowo are expected to witness the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two nations.
During his own visit to Peru in late 2024, just a month after taking office, Prabowo expressed his intention to build strong bilateral relations and boost economic and cultural cooperation with the South American country.
The CEPA is seen as a potential gateway for Indonesian goods and services to enter markets in Central and South America, strengthening Indonesia’s trade presence in the region.
