Indonesia Issues Global Alert for Brazilians Linked to Bali Murder
Denpasar. Indonesian authorities have requested an Interpol red notice for two Brazilian nationals suspected of murdering a Dutch citizen in Bali’s Badung Regency, police said.
Bali Police’s Director of Criminal Investigation, Chief Commissioner I Gede Adhi Muliawarman, said on Saturday that the request followed the collection of "strong evidence" linking the suspects to the crime.
Investigators found traces of blood inside a vehicle believed to have been used by the perpetrators. Surveillance footage also showed what appeared to be blood on the suspects’ legs, Adhi said.
“Based on these findings, we identified and named two individuals as suspects,” he said in Denpasar.
After confirming their identities, Bali Police coordinated with national authorities in Jakarta to issue wanted notices and formally submit the red notice request to Interpol, enabling a wider international search.
“As of today, their data and identities have been circulated globally. We are also coordinating with authorities regarding transit routes and potential destination countries,” Adhi said.
Cross-border coordination is ongoing as investigators track the suspects, who are believed to have moved through several countries before heading to a final destination.
The case stems from the killing of Rene Pow, a 49-year-old Dutch national, who was fatally stabbed at a villa in Kerobokan, Badung, on March 23.
Police said the attack occurred at around 10 p.m. local time as the victim was walking toward the villa with a female companion. Two men riding a black scooter approached and attacked him with a sharp weapon.
Adhi said the victim died from multiple stab wounds.
