Tangerang. Indonesia has begun repatriating 45 of its citizens from Iran amid escalating conflict involving the United States and Israel, the Foreign Ministry said.

The evacuees are arriving in three batches between April 14 and April 16, via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The first group landed safely on Tuesday at 6 p.m. local time after traveling from Baku, Azerbaijan.

Upon arrival, the evacuees were handed over to relevant regional authorities, including Jakarta’s Social Affairs Office and provincial liaison agencies from West Java, Central Java, and Lampung. They will be assisted in returning to their respective hometowns.

The second batch arrived on Wednesday, while the final group is scheduled to reach Indonesia on Thursday, also through Jakarta’s main international gateway.

The evacuation is part of a broader government response led by the Foreign Ministry in coordination with Indonesian missions abroad, including the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran and the Indonesian Embassy in Baku. The effort aims to ensure the safety and protection of Indonesian nationals affected by the deteriorating security situation in the region.

According to data from the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran as of April 7, a total of 281 Indonesians remain in Iran following earlier evacuation phases. Most are students residing in the city of Qom, with others consisting of migrant workers and expatriates.

The Foreign Ministry, through its embassy in Tehran, continues to maintain close communication with Indonesians still in the country. Authorities are also assessing further assistance measures in line with ongoing developments on the ground.
