Jakarta. The Foreign Ministry announced Friday that one Indonesian citizen injured in the recent Hong Kong fire had been discharged from the hospital. 

Hong Kong saw its deadliest blaze in decades after an inferno struck a Tai Po apartment complex earlier this week. The fire claimed at least 94 lives, two of whom were Indonesians.

The government reported that two other Indonesians sustained wounds.

“One of them has left the hospital. This person is now staying at their employer's relative's place. The other injured Indonesian is now in stable condition and is waiting to be discharged,” a ministerial press statement reads.

The ministry’s spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang recently told reporters that all four victims were migrant domestic workers. Apart from their occupation, the victims’ identities remain unknown. 

“Our consulate general in Hong Kong will keep coordinating with local authorities and the victims' recruitment agencies regarding their repatriation and rights,” Yvonne said.

Yvonne did not say when the victims’ bodies would arrive in Indonesia. The government has also reached out to their families.

A fire at a housing estate in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district was first reported at 2.51 p.m. local time on Wednesday. Officials had said that the fire had started at a flammable bamboo scaffolding outside the building before it quickly spread up the structure, into the building, and eventually engulfed the nearby towers. Around 279 people are unaccounted for in the apocalyptic fire. Rescuers are now making the final search for those feared trapped on the upper floors of the complex.

Government data showed that Indonesia had deployed 99,773 migrant workers to Hong Kong throughout last year.
